Babysitters Course and Childcare First-Aid

 

This fun and interactive 2 day course is designed for youth 11 years and up who want to become a babysitter or may already be one. The Babysitting Course covers the responsibilities of a babysitter, safety tips for children of all ages, basic child care skills and what to do in case of an emergency.

For many young adolescents, babysitting is their first job, and the this course can help them become real "pros"! They learn valuable tips for managing their business, as well as:

  • Important child care skills
  • Safety tips for children of all ages
  • How to cope with common problems, like tantrums and crying
  • What to do if anything makes the babysitter uncomfortable
  • Some great games and other ideas for having fun with the kids while babysitting
  • How to make the children's environment safe and enjoyable
  • What are the respective rights and responsibilities of the babysitter and the family hiring one
  • How to deal with strangers in and outside the home
Course also includes Childcare First-Aid certification

Emergencies sometimes do happen, even to the best babysitters. The Childcare first-aid course teaches youth how to handle emergencies with confidence by providing the basic first aid skills for such common problems as:

  • When to call 911
  • Treatment of recognition of spinal injuries
  • How to build a first-aid kit
  • Choking and Breathing Emergencies
  • Child, Infant, and Adult CPR
  • Sprains and Strains
  • Bleeding and Small Wound Care
  • Poisoning
  • Burns
  • Fire emergency
  • Allergic reactions

The newly revised Babysitting Course is updated for today's youth.

Course includes Canadian Red Cross Babysitters manual, Canadian Red Cross Babysitters certifcates, Alert First-Aid Basic first-aid handbook, Alert First-aid Childcare First-aid certifcation.
