Youth Leaders support the Red Cross Youth First Aid Program through the delivery of Stay Safe! and Babysitting courses. This course includes: the online Fundamentals of Instruction for Youth Leaders and the Stay Safe! and Babysitter's Manual participant manuals required for Youth Leaders.
Youth Leader candidates must be at least 18 years old (or 16-17 if courses are facilitated with adult support) and hold a Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certification or equivalent.
In order to become certified, participants must complete the online component (Fundamentals of Instruction for Youth Leaders) and a Teaching Experience (unless they meet the exceptions listed below).
Post-course Requirements: Youth Leader candidates must complete a teaching experience with a certified Canadian Red Cross Youth Leader; the following exceptions apply: Red Cross (FA or WS) Instructors or Instructor Trainers are required to own the current participant materials and complete the 'Fundamentals of Instruction for Youth Leaders' online component. Educators (elementary or secondary level) are required to own the current participant materials and complete the 'Fundamentals of Instruction for Youth Leaders' online component.
