A comprehensive Red Cross first aid course in Duncan for those working in marine environments, through a combination of online and in-person delivery.
Our Canadian Red Cross Marine Basic First Aid & CPR Level C Blended course is a fun and comprehensive first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course designed particularly for those who work in marine environments. This is a blended course, so combines self-paced, online instruction with a face-to-face, in-person skills session led by one of our fantastic instructors.
The Marine Basic First Aid course skills are very similar to the Standard First Aid course - the main difference is that the scenarios used are taken from the marine/fishing industry. This course meets the requirements of Transport Canada outlined in Transport Publication (TP) 13008 E.
We truly believe that first aid is a physical skill, and the majority of your in-person session will be spent doing hands-on first aid and participating in realistic first aid scenarios, developing confidence and muscle memory. At the end of this course, participants should feel sure of their skill and confident to act in an emergency.
The online module must be completed before you come in for the in-person portion, and will take up to 8 hours to complete. You can start and stop as many times as you'd like while you work through it, and it can be taken up to 4 weeks ahead of your in-person course.

Marine Basic First Aid is a 2 day course that is essentially the very same as Red Cross Standard First Aid, with a few extra topics specific to the marine environment, such as communication in an emergency on the water, and added emphasis on the topics of drowning, hypothermia, and shock. We offer this course regularly in a blended format, where you can do the knowledge portion online, and then complete the course with an 8-hour in-class session.
Marine Basic First Aid expires after 3 years, so you will need to retake the course every 3 years to keep it maintained.
Transport Canada has jurisdiction over first aid requirements for people who work on the water. There are two types of Marine First Aid Courses. For those who work on smaller craft or lower risk environments. Marine Basic First Aid is the appropriate course.Marine Basic First Aid is a 2 day course that is essentially the very same as Red Cross Standard First Aid, with a few extra topics specific to the marine environment, such as communication in an emergency on the water, and added emphasis on the topics of drowning, hypothermia, and shock. We offer this course regularly in a blended format, where you can do the knowledge portion online, and then complete the course with an 8-hour in-class session. Marine Advanced First Aid may be required for those who work on larger vessels or higher risk environments. Marine Advanced First Aid is essentially the very same as a Red Cross First Responder course with a few added ‘marine topics’ and This is an intensive week long course.
